Munich, Elmau, Salzburg, Dolomites, 28-29.June.2025, Saturday

I’m off on another adventure, I can’t believe it! And who knew a year later after the Taylor Swift concert in Munich that I’d be back there with Rick and Salzburg too, so fun.

I won’t repeat earlier views and history, I covered a lot of Munich and Salzburg last year, but when we landed in Munich this time, we ended up having to get out of the taxi and walking the last blocks to our hotel. The whole city center was blocked off for a huge Pride parade. So very wonderful to see and celebrate after the grimness of the US these days. A new view of the New Town Hall with pride flags blowing in the wind.

After we checked in to our hotel, we did as much as we could of the Rick Steve’s Munich city tour before we wore out. I’m always happy to repeat since it locks more in my memory.

We had a night and then went to the Elmau region of Bavaria. We’re staying at a retreat in the valley with abundant hiking, biking and sitting options. Our Vietnam crew told me about this place this spring and I thought it sounded wonderful, but when would I ever be able to go. Turns out just months later Rick and I could go! I’m so lucky to be able to travel – it just fills me up.

Rick thinking we landed in a very nice spot and two view from a hike up the hill from the retreat.

We’re going to ride E-bikes tomorrow (oh thank goodness) and hike the next day. Gives Rick’s feet a break and we can see even more terrain.
